This International Women's Day, we want to showcase some of the amazing women working at TFS.
This International Women's Day, the theme is all about breaking the bias, and that's why we want to showcase some of the amazing women within the TFS team who break the bias every day.
The fire and security industry is typically very male dominated, but we want to highlight how that isn't always the case. Within the TFS team we have women working across a range of departments, a number of who are also in management positions.
We spoke to two of our employees, Chelsea and Vickie, to find out more about their roles within the business and how those roles help to empower them and #BreakTheBias.
Chelsea Finegan - Service Desk Manager

Can you give us a brief overview of your role at TFS?
I manage the service department and oversee all reactive, day works and planned maintenance co-ordination.
What do you love about working at TFS?
No two days are the same, there is always a new challenge. Also, how much support and teamwork there is across all departments.
How does TFS empower you in your role?
There is always training available and I feel no matter where or how I wanted to progress, I feel TFS would support me in that path.
The Fire and Security industry is typically male dominated - what advice would you give to women looking to enter the industry to make them feel at ease?
I would say to other females looking at starting in the industry not to feel threatened. I have worked with male and female managers, directors and engineers in my career, and I feel there is always a good relationship within the teams I have been a part of. Everyone supports each other and the industry is a lot more tight knit to what people think. Everyone seems to know someone else who works for another fire & security company, so with that in mind it does make you feel like you're a part of one large team.
Vickie Walker - Contracts Administrator

Can you give us a brief overview of your role at TFS?
I'm responsible for planning, daily management and procedures for the national contracts department.
What do you love about working at TFS?
I love working with a passionate team and no two days are the same. I also love to see projects through from start to finish.
How does TFS empower you in your role?
They encourage me to be successful and satisfied in my job role.
The Fire and Security industry is typically male dominated - what advice would you give to women looking to enter the industry to make them feel at ease?
Be strong, confident and able to hold your own. You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
